The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final result and marks of candidates who appeared for the Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2022. The CMS exam is conducted annually by UPSC to recruit medical officers in various central government organizations.

About UPSC CMS Exam

CMS 2022 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for CMS exam is as follows:

  • Educational Qualification: MBBS degree from a recognized university/institute
  • Age Limit: 32 years as on 1st August 2022. Relaxation for reserved categories as per rules.
  • Nationality: Citizen of India, Subject of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugee settled in India before 1st January 1962.

There are no restrictions on number of attempts for the CMS exam. Candidates who fulfill the eligibility conditions can appear any number of times.

CMS 2022 Exam Pattern

The CMS exam comprises of 3 stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam - Objective MCQ paper of 2 hours duration. Total 400 marks.
  2. Main Exam - Written exam with 9 papers of 3 hours duration each. Total 1750 marks.
  3. Personality Test - Interview of 100 marks.

The 9 papers in Main Exam include compulsory and optional subjects like Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Preventive & Social Medicine, Medicine, Pediatrics, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology etc.

Final merit list is prepared by adding marks of Main Exam and Interview. Candidates equivalent to number of vacancies are recommended for appointment based on merit.

CMS 2022 Final Result Analysis

Out of total candidates who appeared in the CMS exam, only 332 have been declared qualified as per official result data. This indicates the tough competition in the exam.

The cut off marks for qualifying Main Exam and Interview are quite high. For unreserved category, candidates need around 60% in Main Exam and 50% in Interview to make it to the final list.
